OECD Virtual Seminar Held in China

The OECD Virtual Seminar on Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) was held in China on September 21-22 amid COVID-19 pandemic. The event was co-organized by OECD and State Taxation Administration (STA) and hosted by OECD-STA Multilateral Tax Centre in China (MTC China).

The two-day seminar opened with a welcome speech by Director Guo Jiayin of STA, and followed by Debra Evans, Policy Adviser, Tax Certainty and CbC, speaking on the appropriate and effective use of country-by-country reporting data. On the 2^nd day, Simon Kimber, UK CbC Policy Lead, shared HMRC’s experience in implementing CBC and risk assessment.

The virtual seminar was joined by nearly 300 tax officials from mainland China， Hong Kong， Macau, Mongolia and Seribia, reflecting the importance of this topic in the post-BEPS era. The event had sparkled participants’ interest in the TREAT tool developed by the OECD and achieved tremendous success as all participants chanted “Thank you!” at the end of the two-day seminar.
